ARAHURA STOCK SALE. Yesterday’s fixture at the above yards was attended bv a large gathering of butchers. The yarding was in excess of the last two sales but nevertheless competition was brisk tliroughout the fixture. Ike quality off the yarding was good and prices must be considered excellent for this period of the year. Prime heavy bullocks made Irom 12s to Ills per hundred, medium weights to 18s. extra prime heifers to Us lid. Cow beef from 37s to 11s (id. A small entry of fat sheep from Canterbury sold up to late rates. M. Jeffries and Co’s entry off 81 cattle sold as loljows:—For J. Messrs M. Houston and Co, report: There was a good attendance of buyers at yesterday’s sale at the above yards, when wle submitted (23 fat sheep, 42 head of fat cattle and 20 store bullocks to competition. Prices for beef were easier than those of the previous sale. Best ox and heifer beef averaged from 4(3s to 48s per hundred and cow beef from 42s to 465. AYo sold as follows:—On account of T. Staines 23 fat sheep at 26s 6d, 2 bullocks at £ls 12s 6d, 1 at £l6 7s 6u, 2 at £ls 12s 6d. 1 at £l6, 1 at £ls 10s, 3 at £ls 7s 6d, 1 stag at £l3 2s 6d, 2 bullocks at £l6, 4 cows at £lO 10s; on account W. At a meeting of the butchers held (during the progress of the sale it was decided to hold the next fixture at Arahura on Wednesday, the 18th Dec., at 2 p.m. This will be the Christmas sale.
