FLAT BLOWN UP. ARSON AND GELIGNITE. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, Dec. 2. Frustrated in an attempt to burn n double storey block of flats in Double Bay on Saturday night, two men returned last niglit and attempted to blow up the flats with a quantity of gelignite. Firemen prevented the Saturday night attempt and extinguished the fire (before much damage was done, bu.t the explosion completely wrecked the kitchen, hallway and shattered every window. THIEF’S STRANGE ACT. MELBOURNE, Dec. 2. A thief who robbed the homo of John Miller, at Footscrav, acted in a strange manner. He bound the bands of Miller’s wife and two children, and Miller, who returned home at ten o’clock at night. He then stood guard over the family with arevolver until six in the morning when he departed. Airs Miller managed to free herself and the others.
