Replying to the references being mane in editorial columns of the “New Zealand Times,” the “Auckland Star.” and the “Timaru Herald”, to the subject of religion in politics. Mr Massey t.i-dav stated: —He was glad to testify that there was less sectarianism in tbe Tautanga election than in any provimni election.

Regaiding the reference, made to tluT visit of many members ot the Cabinet to the South Hand coincidental with the Oainaru election. .Air Massey said that they went there solely on departmental business, and also for a recent Executive Council meeting.

Regarding xlie “Auckland Star's” statement that Air Massey lad permitted one uf his Ministers, Mr Noswcrtliy. to declare that he would not take office with a Catholic as a colleague. the Premier said : “It was very far from correct.” It was true that Mr Noswortliy, when not a Minister. expressed strong views on the subject, but lie later was a Government AVliip to the National Ministry, wherein Sir Joseph AA'at'd was a member.
