FRIDAY, APRIL 13th. The Board met at I p.in. Present: Messrs G. A. AA’ood (Chairman), J. Lloyd, C. J. Nightingale, F, McGregor and T. AA*. Bruco. An apology was received from Mr M. Houston. From Thus Murray, Matainui, notifying return of tripper and monkey, hired from the Board.—Received. From G. Lukin, Secretary Hokitika Lire Brigade, drawing attention to blocking of fire plug opposite Red Lion Hotel, with timber, and asking that the obstruction be removed at once.Received. An explanation was given i*” that a carter put a load of timber over tlici plug at 0 p.m. and same was removed ;it 6 o'clock next morning. From Marine Department, AA'ellington notifying elections of members ipr Harbour Boards, in April, and if “the Board decides to bold the elections on 9tb May. instead, the Governor-m-Council could validate such election.— Received. . From Pearson Memorial Fund Committee. asking for subscription to same. —Received. A sum of £2 2s was voted under tbe Act authorising local authoritics to contribute to the fund. From AA'ellington Harbour Board and Otago Harbour Board, forwarding annual report.—Received. The report of the stranding of the Elsie at the mouth of the river on Sunday last, had been forwarded to the Collector of Customs. Tt was stated that the stranding of the boat in no wav reflected on the conditions of the harbour, but to the unfavourable conditions, a gale blowing from the southwest at the time, "huh the vessel was unable to make headway against.
