ALL SAINTS CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of Parishioners was held in All Saint’s Schoolroom last evening and was well attended. The Rev. J. E. Holloway presided. Tlie balance sheet for the preceding 12 months was read and confirmed and the following Committee were elected: Messrs. Michel, Lloyd, Hansford, Sweney, McGregor, Ward, Wethey, Sherman, Keller, Peart, Richards, Mackay, and de Berry.

The general comments of the various speakors indicated that the Church life and Finances of the town were satisfactory, considering the effects of the war* and very genuine approval was expressed of the efforts of the ladies of the congregation in forwa'rding the work of the Church. The great event of the year has been the opening of the hostel, and very appreciative remarks were made re the success of the work, and the great assistance rendered to the Vicar by SisI ters Dora and Margaret. I After the formal business of the meeting occasion was taken to present Mr R. M. King, the retiring Treasurer and Bishop’s Warden with tokens of tlie congregations’ appreciation of his long and faithufl services, and of their good wishes for his and his family’s future happiness and prosperity. Mr King has been a most willing worker and his place in the congregation will be hard to fill, especially in the care of the Church Grounds, to which lie gave a great deal of time and care. Mr King replied at some length, expressing his appreciation of the kind references and presentations (which consisted of a travelling rug and hymn book for himself, and a handbag, and prayer and hymn book for Mrs King, and a copy of Browning’s poems for Miss W. King.) .

-Mr Michel moved a vote of sympathy to Dr Holloway on the death of Mr Twentyman of Christchurch, (his bro-ther-in-law). This was seconded InAlr Ward and carried in silence. Supper was handed round before the gathering dispersed.
