[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] FOUND DEAD. WELLINGTON, April 5. John Paaske, an elderly man, married, was found dead, in his house at Wadestown to-day. He recently returned from Christchurch, where lie said be had caught a severe cold. lie was last seen about on Wednesday. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. AUCKLAND, April 5.

A German civilian, named Freitz Sehmallkucho, interned in Motuihi Island, was charged at the Police Court before Mr Justice Fraser, S.M., with assaulting another German named Franz Albin Volkmer, on February lithe last, so as to cause actual bodily harm. The accused claimed to he a military prisoner, and pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court, hail being allowed in the nominal sum of £lO, the bondsmen to be a militin, bSLeer 1 . This course was adopted in order to permit accused being returned to Motuihi. The military, however, dedined, and the accused was committed to the Mt. Eden gaol.
