CASES AT NEW PLYMOUTH

A number of undefended petitions in divorce came before' his Honor Mr. Justice Heed at the Supreme Court, New Plymouth, on Saturday. Habitual drunkenness, and failure to support were the grounds on which Ann Jane Marslen sought a dissolution of her marriage with William George Marslen. Mr. JR. H. Quilliam appeared for the petitioner.

The petitioner stated that her husband was continually drinking, and since he had returned from the war in 1918 he had done practically no Avork. While the respondent was at the war the petitioner banked his allotment, with the intention of giving him a fresh start when he returned to New Zealand. •

A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute after the expiry of three calendar months.

Elsie Vera Francis (Mr. A. A. Bennett) sought a decree nisi from Alfred Ashley Francis, now Jiving at Owaka, South Otago. In support of the application the petitioner stated that she married Francis at Waihi in January. 1915. They were separated in September, 1919, and respondent had failed to maintain her. He had subsequently served a term of imprisonment for disobedience of the maintenance order made egainst him. The petitioner asked for the custody of the two children.

A decree nisi was granted, with an order for custody as asked for! Decrees absolute were granted Donald Morrison against Marearette Kate Morrison, and Percy Ward Locker against Louisa: Locker, In the last case petitioner was granted custody of a boy, while the question of the custody of a girl, at present unctar the care of tKe respondent, "Twas reserved, with liberty to either party to apply for an order.
