EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

TREATMENT OF DOMINIONS. s AN IMPEACTICABLE SUGGESTION. j BY CABLE—2EESS ASSOCIATION-COPYEIGHT LONDON, Oct. 17. Mr Eobert Donald has resigned from the • management committee of the Empire Exhibition as a protest against the attitude of the management towards the use ot Imperial foodstuffs in the restaurant attached to the exhibition. The committee turned down Major Belcher's recommendation that the restaurant should use nothing but Imperial produce, alleging that such a course was impracticable, and the general manager informed Major Belcher that the wishes of the Dominions should be followed as far as possible. This was followed up by a memorandum from the Board of Trade supporting the theory that the restaurant could not be run without drawing on foreign supplies for meat, fish, fruit and cheese. Mr Donald opposed going outside the Empire for supplies, and. considered that the Dominions were being, treated as subordinates instead of on a basis ! of absolute equality. Mr Donald also ' asserts the general manager stated it was impossible to get suitable timber i within the Empire to fence the Exhibi- ] tion grounds. \
