AUCKLAND' CASES

(BY TELEGRAPH—tPBESS ASSOCIATION.; AUCKLAND, Oct. 11. The district healcn Officer states that on the Chatham there are a few gases of mild influenza. The warship is go-! ing to the quarantine anchorage to-' morrow morning as a ; precautionary measure. Since October 1 there have been 15 cases of sickness on board, not all influenza. Three or four cases had pneumonia, and there was one case of i pneumbia following influenza. I The Mayor (Mr. Gunson) has tele-1 graphed the Hon. C. J. Farr: "I am. concered at a; revival of pneumonic influenza. There are several cases in the city and district, and- as they are not notifiable the health office is not in! a position to thoroughly be ported. 'A more serious position is caused by cases' entering port by shipping. • I under-, stand there are a number of cases on the Chatham. I .earnestly ask you not to allow these cases to viand, but to* require them to go to Quarantine Island. ; I would like Dr. Frengley to' come to Auckland to investigate the position with Dr. Hughes, in whom we have confidence. Mr. Gunson, in a statement, says there is no need for alarm, But the public should be warned. - x WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. In the House to-day, the Minister of Defence said "that no alarm need be created by the unexpected return to Auckland of H.M.S. Chatham, the change in her movements being due to a mild outbreak of influenza on board. The Chatham arrives at Auckland this evening. ' - j
