OEO.

j (From Our Own Correspondent.) There were about forty members present at the_ annual meeting of the Hall Society, which was held on the evening of the 4th inst. Mr. Robinson presided over the meeting, and read the balance' sheet, which showed a debit balance over the year's working. And after a fair amount of criticism on the balance sheet and year's working the balance sheet was adopted as read. Mr. J. O. Jones was then elected to conduct the meeting for the election of a new committee. There were nine nominations, which were as follows: Messrs W. Drinkwater, R. Voullaire, C: W. Oook, J. R.. Millar, F. Atkinson, C. Bridgeman, E. Raye, J. Francis, and J. Kinsella. The first seven were duly elected the committee for the ensuing year. At a subsequent meeting Mr. Atkinson was elected chairman and Mr. J. R Millar secretary. The new committee are holding a grand dance on Friday night, and they are putting all their energy into making their dance the huge success which by all accounts it is going to be*. The suppliers here are having a great season this year. The milk supply at the local factory at the present time : is much greater than that of other

years, and if prices keep up to anything decent at all it will be a big help to the struggling farmer of to-day. But if prices go down to any considerable extent I am afraid a good few shifts will again take place, as the price of land is too high compared with that of butterfat.

Messrs Olsen Bros, have purchased the motor launch recently owned by a company of residents. They intend toj run a fishing business. j
