ANZAC DAY.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

CELEBRATION AT WAVERLEY

Anzac Day was celebrated very quietly in Waverley on Tuesday. In < the morning the school children carried wreaths and crosses to the school and placed them on the fallen soldiers' monument that is erected in the school grounds. Quite a number of very pretty wreaths and crosses were placed there, which reflects credit on the children and teachers who have taught the young idea how to honour our brave dead. In the afternoon a service was held in the Town Hall, conducted by the Rev. Mr Wilson (Anglican) and Mr Mills (manager of the Presbyterian Orphanage, Wellington). The body of the hall was filled, and an interesting address was given by Mr Wilson. Mrs Eames presided at the piano, and Mr J. H. Pepper sounded the Last Post and Reveille at the close of the meeting.
