—+■ _ WAIMATE TROTTING CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. i —— ■.. The annual race meeting of the above club will be, held at the Hawera race- : course on Easter Monday. The acceptances are a record, and good fields will • line up lor all the handicap events , The trotting should be of a high standard, for horses from Auckland, Christehurch, Wellington, and other parts of the Dominion have accepted, and amongst them are many well performed animals. Prominent trotting , enthusiasts from various parts have notified that they will be present at . the meeting. The track is in splendid order, and everything points to a most j successful meeting. Owing to' the heavy ; taxation the club in common with other sporting bodies have been reluctantly compelled' to cancel ali complimentary tickets,.but the moderate prices of admission—men 6s and ladies 2s 6d— encourage large public support for the club. The trots will probably be the greatest local attraction on Easter ( Monday. The various bowling clubs will no doubt make the best of the holidays, if the weather is fine, as the number of , playing days left for this season are ] few Tennis will also occupy a number of enthusiasts, while Saturday's footI ball match between Hawera and Imlay (Wanganui), both champion teams last , season, should draw a large crowd to . the showground. The Waingongoro j beach provides a pleasant rest if the j weather is good, while further afield j there are the attractions of Xgaere Gardens, the mountain, and Opunake beach. At time of writing the barometer is falling, and there have been a few showers, but the temperature.is pleasant, and the weather may clear for the holidays.
