This company are the successors to Messrs Burgess, Flan and Co., the well-known mail contractors, and have on view a 2-ton truck of best English workmanship. This signalises a new departure. The company were desirous of placing on the market cars and trucks of purely British manufacture at a reasonable price, and sent representatives to England, who succeeded in procuring the manufacture of cars and trucks to their own specifications, adapted to the needs of the Dominion. The truck on show is the first to arrive, others being on the water and to arrive shortly. The exhibit is of especial interest, as it is the result of Taranaki enterprise and forethought. The special features are solicLty _of workmanship, being of England's very best; powerful and economical engines; pressed high tensile steel frames, having ample strength for the load; patent gear box with shafts, short and rigid, mounted on ball bearings, and all gear j wheels and dogs hardened and ground; j final drive and rear axle, hardened steel worm working in phosphor bronze wheel, mounted in removable section of main axle casting for quick inspection and replacement, or final drive by bevel countershaft and differential gearing and from differential countershaft to rear axle by heavy roller chain; high tension magneto ana Claudel Hobson carburretter; wheels, hollow spoke cast steel type with plain floating bearings, or alternatively with pneumatic tyres with detachable disc wheels; ample ground clearance and long wheel base. A unique method of the company is the importing, always assuring the user a. supply of spare's at all times, from a. radiator to the last bolt.
