PERTH, May 11. Mrs Bates, who returned from the
'Ooldea district, where she for years worked among the aborigines, states that cannibalism is rife there. At a recent initiation ceremony two natives were killed and eaten. Other instances were given of a woman who killed and ate a new-born baby, and another woman who ate her four babies. Hun- : ger was not the cause, but cannibalistic instincts.
