GIFT PARCELS.
SOLDIERS' THANKS. Mrs Dawbin, of Mangatoki, has received the following letter, dated March 1, from somewhere in France: "It is some little time ago since 1 opened the box containing all sorts of luxuries. As far as 1 can remember, everything in it was in good condition. Another case had tinned cakes in it, and they also had travelled very well. We are very grateful to all you kind folks for thinking of us so far away. It is very strange that we have had so many gift goods from your district. Most of the platoon that I am in are from Eltnam and thereabouts. I myself come from Otago, and am in the 2nd Battalion, 3rd N.Z. Rifle Brigade. Once again thanking you all for your kindness. —I remain, yours sincerely, H. T. Kerr. P.S.—We were in the trenches at the time."
