CHRISTCHURCH SUICIDE

CHRISTCHURCH, May 24. The body of N. G. Keane was found hanging to a ladder in a back room of Nicholas auction rooms this morning. Deceased was about 44 years .of age, and was a married man with three children. Until January last he was a partner in the firm of P. S. Nicholls and Co., furniture auctioneers, for about three year's. Upon the dissolution of the partnership, he was retained as auctioneer until about a month ago when lie ceased his connection. He had formerly had a business as a tobacconist in Invercareill, where be was very well known, and was a Southland representative wicket-keeper, and he was in the last Christchurch senior team. Keane suffered from mental depression as a result of financial and business difficulties. In a pocket was found a telepram threatening to have him arrested if money was not paid forthwith. -At an inquest held to-nieht a veivliot of sri«ide while in unsound mind was returned.
