INDECENT LITERATURE
BY TELEGRAPH—PHJBSS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, May 24. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Alfred Charles Howe, bookseller, was fined £2 for selling a copy of the book 'The Winning Post Funny Stories and Jokes, No. 5." Mr McCarthy, S.M., characterised the publication as a dreary waste of suggestive^ filth. He said a more correct title for it would he "Scraps frp-n the Literary Muck Heap." He inflicted a light penalty, as defendant did not know the book was indecent.
