BOUNDARY ROADS.
PROPOSED NEW WORK. •
At Wednesday night's meeting of tho* Hawera Borough Council a letter wasreceived from the Hawera County Council stating that the Council * would agree, to the Hawera Borough Council's-, proposal'to tarviate the South Road and Glover Road boundaries at a cost not to. exceed £21 per chain, that being the estimate for a completely finished road as stated by the borough authorities at the recent conference of thetwo bodies interested. The Borough Engineer submitted thefollowing statement: "Seeing that it will not be possible to tarviate the* South Road in this financial year, owI ing.to tarvia supplies arriving too lateto admit of my doing both boundary roads as scheduled for years 1913-14, I have rim out the cost of giving theSouth Road a coat of metal from Princes street to Budge's corner. Such work should be done about March next, and the gross sum amounts to £297. I have «llowed for 540 yards of Eltham metal. The cost is based upon the reasonableinference that my new road roller will ; be to hand to scarify and consolidate the work, otherwise the expense would be v greater should I have to hire a roller." Cr. Morrissey said he thought the? County Council should be acquainted jof the Engineer's proposals. The acting-Mayor agreed with Cr. Morrissey.
It was decided on the "f (>. Morrissey and Cr. Goodwin, that a copy of the Engineer's report be forwarded to tiny Hawera County Councils
