LETTER FROM THE PREMIER
At Wednesday night's meeting of theHawera Borough Council, Mr G. VPearce, M.P., torwarded a recommendation from the Premier (Mr W. P.. Massey) with reference to the erection* of workers' dwellings in Hawera. Mr Massey said that tne members of theWorkers' Dwellings Board were of theopinion that the prices asked were far too high to enable the Government toerect houses at rentals to suit the class provided for by the Workers' Dwellings. Act. If suitable land were offered at a. reasonable figure, the Governmentwould be prepared to give the same consideration to Hawera as to other districts.
