ENGINEER'S REPORT

The borough engineer submitted the following special report bearing on the water tower to the monthly meeting of the Hawera Borough Council on Wednesday evening: — "The cost' of water tower, five installation mains, pumping plant, and labor to end of September is £3543 17s Id. I have installed a 10-inch main from Union street to Victoria street, including concussion valve, and I am now proceeding to lay balance of 10-inch mains to connect up to water tanks of tower, and by the end of the present month will have 50,000 gallons of tower water, at a sustained head of 50Ibs available for fire-fighting purposes."
