BUSH SICKNESS.

AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENT'S

EXPERIMENTS

[By Telegraph—Special' to Star.) WELLINGTON, July 13,

For more than a year the Department of Agriculture has been engaged in experiments to discover the cause of bush sickness, a disease affecting cattle in certain districts in the northern portion of the North Island. The first portion of the investigation has been of a nature to induce belief that the cause of the malady has been ascertained, and, in order to allow of further practical experiments, Cabinet is considering a proposal to acquire an area of 300 acres at Manukau, 12 miles from Rotorua, in the centre of the affected district.
