MOUNT EGMONT RAILWAY.

Though there was a temporary cessation of work some time ago strides are now being made with the Mount Egmont line (reports the Stratford Post). At present the Public Works Department have fifty men engaged on the. work of carrying the line two and a half miles from the present terminus right into the metal area. Almost a miloof the formation is finished, and another half mile is in hand. The rail* and sleepers are going on right away to start plate-laying on the first mile. By the end of the year, if things go well, the line will be completed. It ends close to a 60ft. face of solid rock ,sonw of which is of a very fine quality, but as is not unusual it is mixed with metal pf inferior quality. Apparently there is on inexhaustible supply of good stone* and, in the near future, the line should be accomplishing something of its purpose in helning to s?olv^ the roadingL problem of this portion of the province.
