After some further conversational discussion, a committee was set up, composed of the Chairman of the Council (Cr Dudley; and Crs. Maxwell, Burgess, and Campbell, to confer with the Taranaki County Council on their tram proposals. They recommended that Opunake be the place of meeting, and the date be Tuesday, the 26th, starting at 11 o'clock.

The resolution carried by the Taranaki t,ounty Council, at the instance of Cr McAlhim. was: "That this Council take the initiative m collecting such information as Will enable it to arrive at some resolution as to the best method of cop- \ n r g. Avl tn the increasing traffic on the Mam {south road (1) by appointing the Uiairman, and Councillors Stevens An draws, and M'Alhun delegates of this Uouncil ;(2) by inviting the co-operation ot the Egmont and Waimate West County Councils by appointing delegates ; and (3) that those delegates meet m conference at the earliest possible date and at such place as may be agreed upon to discuss'the traction question, and if a suitable scheme should be evolved the same shall immediate be reported each Council, and on confirmation the necAcsnry steps be taken to °ive effect to it." . -
