HAWERA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Caledonian Society was held in the secretary's rooms on luesday evening last, there being present Messrs Kean (chairman), llicks, Grant, Johnstoue, McNiven, Watts, and Quin. A rough statement of the year's operations supplied by the secretary showed an. approximate loss of about .LSo. If this is correct, it is the most serious blow the society has received in. the 22 years of its existence. Some four years ago ihere was a loss of about £14 r but this amount was made good in the successful year following. In J905 the illness of the then secretary caused a considerable deficit, but this loss was righted in a few years by judicious handling of the nuances, and the amount on fixed deposit substantially added to. The annual meeting is to be held on Thursday evening, the 28th inst., and a recommendation was made to the secretary to have all members' fees (of which only an inconsiderable amount had been collected) in by that date. A suggestion that the society should hol-1 •mother sports meeting on Easter Monday, with concert in the evening, may be immediately taken up.
