CONSUMPTIVE SANATORIUMS.

AUCKLAND, April 8. Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, was waited upon by a press representative in reference to the subject of consumptive 6P(natorium6 touched upon by a deputation 5n the South. Dr. Mason remarked that the Jesuits of the Te Waikato Sanatorium, .which, had been mentioned by the Minister as a demonstration station, had proved' «mimien<tJy satisfactory, the percentage of cures having been approximately 21 per cent, which, considering the general lateness at which cases were received, would compare* favorably with the Continental institutions. Local provision _ has been made in Taranaki, Nelson, Wellington, Whangarei, Thames, Invorcargill, and Christ-church, and 'it now only remains for the two centres, Dumedin and; AuckJatod, to .fall into Ime. There is not nearly -sufficient accommodation in New, Zealand for all consumptive patients,, but various districts, by doing their share, are gradually Increasing it to meet the requiremeavte. • j Woods' Great.
