A Tibuk tribe of Tobbesrs in Central Africa have recently given much trouble., and a punitive expedition., comprising upward- of two companies of infantry, was despatched' against them in. the presence of Captain Booth, as political officer in Bornu. The infantry, showing smart work, closed up the enemy's- water holes, and then gradually stormed the Tibuk's strooighold, consisting of piled-up boulders in crevices camd caves in which the enemy were concealed.

Tihe infantry, who wore padHedi coats and blanketa, were ' constantly hanras_ed by discharges of poisoned arrows.

The Tibuk's casualties totalled 300. On the British side Lieutenants Clayton and Thompson were wounded, eleven, infantry men were killed, and forty wounded.
