OTAKEHO RACES.

The Otakeho Racing Club hold their first annual meeting on Wednesday. From the interest being taken in the fixture by the general public on the Plains the club should have every reason to congratulate thomselves on the result of their work. Seven races, have been, arranged, and of these two are post entry. For the other five excellent acceptances have been received, and there will be no fewor than five or six horses starting in every race. This being an unregistered meuting the leading racehorses will not be entered, but those that come before the starter will be a credit ta the district. All races are to be run tinder the New Zealand rules of facing, and the steward? intend seeing that everything is "straight" and above board. The prize-money allotted amounts to over £60, the Otakeho Handicap being worth £14. These race meetings encourage the breeding of a good class of hack, and there is every reason, therefore, to suppose that the meeting will be popular.
