NORTH V. SOUTH ISLAND.
A DRAWN GAME.

DUNEDIN, September 24. The match between the North and South Islands was played on the Caledonian ground to-day in the presence of about 4000 spectators. The ground was in good order, and the weather all that could be desired. A very interesting game resulted in a draw, each side scoring a try. lt> the first spell McGregor got a toy lor the North Island, in a fair posit : on, after a good run down the line. Takarangi failed to convert. In the second half, from a scrum near the South Island 25's. the ball went to Deans, who put in v magnificent run, afterwards passing to Learmont, who scored between the posts. Bennett was entrusted with the kick, but he handled the ball- twice before it was placed, and the North Island men charged. The ball was then placed, but Bennett did not get his kick hi.
