BOWLING TOURNAMENT.
AUCKLAND, January 9. The bowling tournament was formally opened to-day by a welcome extended by the Deputy-Mayor Parr) to visiting teams. Mr Parr, in a felicitous speech, reminded bowlers that bowling qualified playeis for good citizenship, inculcating qualities of loyalty and unselfishness. The visitors were made cordially welcome by the President of. the Auckland Association.
There was a large attendance at the Auckland .green, including many ladies. The tournament starts on Monday, and great local interest is manifested in it.
