ARRIVAL OF THE MONTROSE.
Auckland, August 19.
The troopship Montrose was moored in the Gulf last night, and entered port this morning. An inspection will last several hours. The vessel is flying a signal-that there is sickness on board. The pilot reports that the delay ia the trip down the coast was caused by a breakdown in the engine-room. No communication with the vessel is permitted.
Auckland, August 19. The Montrose has been ordered to the quarantine station. It is reported, she will land 50 men this morning. Later reports from tb,e Kfontrose state that there are 18 oases of soarla* tina and pneumonia, and 37 others on the sick list. The ship is to be docked here, and the Southern contingents forwarded by coastal steamers.
