THE ROAD THROUGH NORMANBY.
THE COUNCIL CANNOT DO ANYTHING. * At the Gounty Council meeting, on Saturday, in reply to Cr Boddie, The Chairman said the Council could not do anything in regard to the Norminby road. The Board was the responsible body, and the Counoil could not interfere, unless the Board was too poor to attend to the road. Such, however, was not the case, and it was only pig-headed-ne s (the word might be strong) which prevented the necessary work being done.
Cr McLean pointed out the Bmall amount of money that had been spent on the road by the Normanby Town Board.
The Chairman added that the Board's policy in regard to the amount expended on the road had been the same for some years.
Or Maunder thought there was some ground for the Chairman's remarks. The matter dropped.
