SUPREME COURT.
(PBR PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) Chbistchubch, February 24. At the Supreme Court this morning, J. W. Murfitt, of Cbrlstcburcb, sheep dealer, claimed accounts from Belcher Bros., of Kaiapoi Island, sheep farmers. It is alleged in tbe statement of claim that Murfitt was to buy sheep and send them down to Belchers for sale. He bought a considerable quantity, and sent them down, but, owing to a fall in price, a los 3 resulted. Murfitt was to receive a quarter of the profits and expenses, and alleged that the loss was occasioned by the failure of tbe Belchers to sell at the proper time. Ddnedin, February 24. At the Supreme Court, Thomas Barrett was found guilty of receiving stolen articles, Alexander Stewart of assault, and Wilhain MoEwan assault, sentence in eaoh case being deferred. In the case of Charles Gathouse, a youth, charged with discharging firearms at William McMeiken, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
