AUCKLAND PRODUCE REPORT.

Auckland, February 14. All the consignments of oats have readily sold, and the shipment by the Hawea this week is all required for orders, most of it going into immediate consumption. Whether the Southern farmers are busy with other work, or whether they are holding off for better value, the fact remains that offerings are very small, and it is difficult to get orders filled. The local price has declined a shade now that the new grain is on the market. Oatmeal now stands at a higher price than it has been for years, and there is hardly any profit in i handling Southern meal at the prices ] quoted this week.

Fowl wheat is very high compared with maize, and even at present rates it does not pay to import, but the locally-grown wheat will probably be on the market shortly. It is estimated that the crop now being garnered will be only sufficient for the local demand, so that New Zealand will not have to depend on export prices. Early inquiries are in for grass seed. With the exception of red clover, all priceo are higher than last season. All colonial-grown grasses and clovers are higher on account of the smaller area, and the yield has also been disappointing. Cocksfoot is hardly settled yet, as Taranaki is only just offering sampleß now. — Weekly News.
