NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT.

New Plymouth, February 13.

At Stratford, on Tuesday, cattle came forward far in excess of advertised numbers, the yards being crowded. A few pens of 3 to 3J year bullocks came forward, and were sold either at the hammer or privately. Weaners mustered in large numbers, and except for well-grown and strong lines were difficult to quit. Bidding for all classes was not equal to the previous fortnight's sale. Ordinary weaners made 16s to 23s 6d ; extra good do., 26s to 31s 6d ; 15 to 18 month steers, L 2 17s 6d to L 3 5s ; 2Jto 3 year bullocks, L 4 10s to L 5; empty heifers, L 2 19s 6d ; heifers in calf, L3ss to L 3 10s ; fresh do., L 4; fat do., L 4 10s to L 5 2s 6d.
