The above match was played at Bayly Park on Thursday afternoon, and ended * in an easy win for the home team by I 130 to 37. Neither side had its complete first eleven in the field. Tbe chief item in the game worthy of notice was the fine innings, 59 not out, of G. i Bayly, the Hawera Club skipper, whose playing form reminded us of the long ago when G. T. B. was in his prime. Burke and Glasgow also played good cricket, and Butts added a quiokly I scored 10. The bowling on each side was fairly good, and the fielding all round was a mixture of good, bad, and middling. With Downes and Fisher out of the North and South match it will lose much of its interest.
" Felix," in Australasian, thinks that but for rain coming on the English team would have made 1000 against New South Wales.
Another contributor says that the English team are experiencing the effects of a hard campaign, and that what with strains their side are in a rather sorry Plight.
