Nominations for the Egmont Hack Produce Stakes, to bo run at Hawera in February, 1904, close on tho 28th February, at 9 p.m.

Acceptances for Taranaki J.C. Meeting are due on Monday. The Waikato Argus has heard of a case where a young man gave a bookmaker half a sovereign (half ticket) at lotalisator odds on Leo Delaval, who paid the sensational dividend of £322 in the Huck Bace at Takapuna. The bookies' limit is JEIO, and the investor therefore only receives a£s note. This is not a bad advertisement for the machine.

There is a suspicion that Epsom Lad will ere long be a roarer. London Truth has it that he already makes a noise, and questions the probability of him winning the Ascot Cup or any such long race.

Th 6 Auckland Star writer says : The Egmont Hack Sires' Produce Stakes should be an interesting race this year. Tradewind, by Sou-wester from Liniment, may have a good chanoe of winning.

Tortulla and Osliak have been scratched for all engagements at Taranaki.
