Hokitika, January 29. Replying to deputations, Sir J. Or. Ward promised increased facilities for the local telephone exchange, if compatible with regulations, and an improved train service between Hokitika and Greymouth, and probably telephone communication between Crreymouth and Hokitika will also be made.

In the evening ho addressed a packed audience. He had a most enthusiastic reception. A vote of thanks to the speaker and confidence in the Seddon Ministry was carried amid cheers.
