MIXED MARRIAGES.

(PER PRESS A8S00IATION.) Auckland, January 20. Bis Lop Lenihan preached last evening in St. Patrick's Cathedral on the subject of mixed marriages, and enjoined upon his people the rigid necesoity for conforming to the Roman Catholio Church's command in this respect. He gave instances where several generations in family circles had absolutely ;lost their faith through mixed marriages. Referring to the cablegram in reference to the decree to be read in Roman Catholic Churches throughout the Commonwealth, the Bishop stated that this decree had been formulated sixteen years ago in Sydney at a conference at which the Bishops of Australia had assisted, and in every church and chapel in Australia and New Zealand it had been read every year since that time. The Bishop read copious extracts from the decree.
