WELLINGTON, September 28. The Postmaster General Bays that if

any reasonable oiler is made to the Government in regard to subsidising the

Hnddart-Parker Steamship Company to inolude a New Zealand port in the timetable of the Canadian service, they will favorably consider it.

In the Council at 7.40, the Conspiracy Law Amendment Bill was committe-j, a hostile amendment being defeated by 16 to 13. On the reading of clause 2, progress was reported. Tbe Government Eailways Act Amendment Bill was further considered in committee. On Mr Stewart's motion, clause 3, providing for the appointment of a Minister for Eailways, was struck nut by 20 to 15, and all tbe remaining olauses were struck out on the voices. This left tbe bill with only two clauses, viz., the short title and a clause extending tbe term of office of the present commissioners tor another year. Tbe bill was reported in this form, the third reading being set down for nest day. ,

Tbe Workmen's Wages Bill was put through its final stages, and tbe Counoil rose at 11.85.

In tbe House at 7.30 tbe Electoral Aot Amendment Bill aod tbe Criminal Code Bill were put through their fi.nal stages. Mr Ward moved tbe second reading of tbe Cheviot Estate Payment Bill, to enable the Treasury to issue debentures in payment for purchase by tbe Crown of the Cheviot Estate. The bill authorised the issue of debentures to tbe amount of £150,000. The second reading was agreed to, and the bill committed without any amendment, the final stages being passed after a short disoußsion.

The Infant Life Protection Bill was committed without amendment, and pat through it 6 final stages.

Tbe Land Drainage Bill and Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Aot Amendment Bill were committed without any material amendment, read a third time, and passed, Tbe Honae rose at 12.45.
