Jock is a bay horse, standing 16| hands high, and very compact. He possesses a grand constitution, great strength o£ bone, and a beautiful temper. Jock's sire, Victor, by Conqueror (imported from Scotland by tbe late Mr. Bookless), bis grandsire Scottish ChamDion. Conqueror's dam by Sir Walter Scott, owned by the late Duke of Hamilton. Sir Walter held an unbeaten record in &how competitions in Great Britain. Victor wound up a very successful show career by carrying off the champion gold medal at Cbristchurch in two successive years, 1884-85. Victor's dam, champion prize mare Diamond, by Thumper (imported), gi-and-dam Flower by Matchless (imported) Diamond took three first prizes as a two-year-old in Australia ; at Southland first as a three-year-old, and has since taken first honors as a brood mare wherever Bhown. Toung Pride's dam, Lake Pride, by Lofty, her dam Blossom, by King Fergus.
