LONDON, August 9.

A deputation, headed by Lord Rosebery, waited yesterday upoD Sir J}. Cross, Secretary of State for India, to urge that the Indian Government should be officially represented at the Melbourne Exhibition. Sir Graham Berry accompanied the deputation, and spoke strongly in favor of India being represented. Sir K. Cross, in reply, promised to telegraph the Tiews of the deputation to the Viceroy of India.

Replyiog to questions in the House of Commons last night, Fergassoa, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, stated that the British Government were pressing France to come speedily to a settlement of the New Hebrides question.
