MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT.
New Plymouth, Saturday. Haymnrket Yards. — Pigs were in fair demand on Saturday, and brought 8s to 13s 6d for medium size ; and 4s Gd to Gs Gd for smaller. Horses were dull. Cattle. — I held a sale at the Oinata pound on Thursday, when cattle came forward largely in excesß of numbers- booked, and altogether the sale was very satisfactory. There was a splendid muster of dairy cows, and most of them sold at very fair prices. 63 head were sold at the hammer. Calves were in great demand, making 31s to 41s ; 15 to 18-month-olds, JE3 ; empty cows, £'d ; 1 heifer, near calving, JB6 10s ; cows, forward in calf, £5 to £7 103 ; heifers, in calf, £i 4s to £i 15s ; 1 pair working steers, 410; 2 steers, fit for yoke, £11 10s ,• bullock cart, £0.
