The Royal Tour
. —❖— UNUSUAL SOUVENIR
An 'uncommon memento of next year's Royal tour of Australia and New Zealand has been made by a Peebles (Scotland) firm who have just fulfilled an .order for women's white woollen pullovers, the front of each of which is decorated by a large initial "G" and "R" (the royal cipher) with a crown between, all in red, says the London Recorder. These have been ordered by" an Australian store, and, to complete the window display, cushions have also been made covered in white wool, with a similar design. t
Special permission has to be obtained for reproduction of the Royal arms, crown, or other emblems. In a memorandum on problems of etiquette such as this, which Sir Ulick Alexander, Keeper of the King's Frivy Purse, circulates from time to time to ladies-in-waiting and Comptrollers to members of the Royal family, it,is laid down that the Home Secretary is normally responsible for advising the King on such matters.
But an exception is made in the case of souvenirs of Royal visits, which are dealt witli by Sir Ulick himself.
