NAENAE ROAD
SPEED LIMIT IMPOSED Following a delegation which recently waited on the Naenae-Wad-dington Progressive Association, the Minister of Transport was approached with a strong recommendation for a limit of 20 miles per hour to be imposed on vehicles using Naenae Road. Considering the nature oi the request, the danger to youngs children wandering because of incomplete fencing, and the state of the road, the Minister has announced his willingness to comply.
After a full discussion the works committee recommended to the Lower Hutt City Council on Monday night that a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour be fixed as a temporary measure in the area —Walwhetu Road from Porutu Street North, Brees Street, Naenae Road and Treadwell Street, between Park Avenue and Naenae Road, in order to further protect all road users in this area until the roads in question are in a fit state for a return to normal traffic conditions. The recommendation was adopted by the Council, but it was pointed out that the speed limit woUld not become operative until the council confirmed the resolution at the next monthly meeting. This confirmation would hot necessarily be given.
