BRIDE-TO-BE ENTERTAINED
<§> An afternoon tea was given to Miss Ruth Andrews on Wednesday last ,at. the residence of Mrs. E. P. I-lay, there being present the wives of City Councillors and senior Council officers, and a few other friends. The Mayoress was' also a guest of honour, and shoulder sprays, which were made by Mrs.. Hutt,'were presented to her and her daughter. On behalf of those present, Mrs. Hay presented Miss Andrews with two liand-painted . plates, and expressed the good wishes of all for her future happiness. ' Miss Andrews acknowledged the gift with a few happy remarks. During the course of a very pleasant occasion a competition was held, of which Mrs. Andrews was the win- . ncr. Ijefore the afternoon concluded a vote of thanks to the hostess was carried on the motion of Mrs. Dudding. Mrs. Hay, in responding, •thanked Mrs. Lonsdale for her' able support.
