ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual meeting of the Lower Hutt Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society, was held at the Red Cross Hall, Market Street, on May 3rd.
In spite of the inclement weather there was a good attendance, among those present being Dr. Gillies, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Galloway; and Miss Galloway. Mr. J. W. Andrews presided and complimented the society on a year of successful service. Dr. Gillies and Mr. Galloway also paid tributes to the work of the Sub Centre. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The officers elected for the ensuing year were: Patron, Mr. J. W. Andrews; Patroness, Lady Roberts; President, Mrs. J. Mitchell; hon. secretary, Mrs. J. Fletcher; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. Richardson; vicepresidents: Messrs V. A. Pool, D. A. Ewen, C. C. Odlin, H. Tekgle, J. Mitchell, Hon. W. Nash, R. Wilson, F. Lonsdale, Rev. Lopdell, Mrs Burnley. Committee: Mesdames .J. W. Andrews, Savage, Kelly, Mouat, Ashe, Flux, Vaughan, Hooson, Earnshaw, B. Mitchell, Binning, Gollan, Geisen, Whitcher, Aldous, Martin, Davies, Jones, Miss N. Brown, Mrs. Bird, Miss Maxwell, Messrs J. Fletcher, A. Binning, Giesen, S. Harding; hon. auditor, Mr. L. Y. Phillips. It was with regret that Mr. Sorenson's resignation was received, and Mr. Andrews voiced the feelings of the society in expressing gratitude for his faithful service, and presented him with a gift on behalf of the committee in appreciation of his wofcit.
When the business of the meeting was concluded Miss Wainscott delighted the audience with two humorous recitations and Miss Galloway a pianoforte solo. These items were very much appreciated, after which supper was served.
