STOKES VALLEY AFFAIRS
A year of satisfactory progress and steadily increasing membership was disclosed in the first annual report of the Stokes Valley Ratepayers' Association. The association had been active in endeavouring to have the bus service improved and ift urging attention to local body maintenance and improvement works in the district. Sub-committees had under consideration schemes for development of public land and members were fully alive to the importance of control in the future of the district as an urban area.
The following officers were electted:—President, Mr. G. J. Neale; vice-president, Mr. R. E. Small; joint secretaries, Mr and Mrs F. Warder; executive, Mesdames P. Smith, R. D. Taylor, Messrs V. H. Robinson, E. Eden, and Blair.
