FREE KINDERGARTEN
Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Waddington lent the grounds of their home, "Deerlea" in Woburn Road, on Saturday for a fete which was held to assist in providing funds to transform the Petone Kindergarten into a nursery school. Many interested friend's, attended from Wellington, Petone and the Hutt. Mrs Parata Ollsen, president of the Petone Free Kindergarten committee, introduced Mrs. J. A. Doctor, president of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association, who referred to the establishment of the nursery •school as an essential work. Members of the Wellington association committee were also present, and Miss Nellie Gibbons, the director. A
mannequin parade was an interesting feature, and pupils of Miss Vivienne Pllatt gave a dancing display. Afternoon tea was served in the drawing room, and stalls were 'arranged in the grounds'. Music was supplied by the Lower .Hutt Pipe Band.
