STOKES VALdLEV' BRANCH I UK - LETTER ,FROM ENGLAND A featufe of the August meeting of the Stokes Valley Women's Institute was the reading of a most interesting letter from the Forest Ro.v link, South Eastern England. The writer stated that they had seen much of the German Luftwaffe, and although raids had been frequent, their village had remained undamaged, the bombs falling in open fields. The Institute in England co-operating in every possible way to assist in the war effort, she said, ( She was delighted to have tyd the pleasure of entertaining Kew Zealand soldiers in her 400 year old home, and sent a special invitation for New Zealand soldiers to vißit her when in that district.
Following afternppn t tea, which was served by Messames Summers and Swanson, Mrs. May gave an interesting talk on the work of the Crippled Children's Society. Mrs. Stedman presented two solos, and the singing circle rendered two patriotic numbers. the convenors of the . Re#pPM circles showed that much work ; had been handed in during the past month. The competition for the month, n knitted hot water bag dover, was won Allan, with Mrs. Harold secqiWUy -Twelve covers were forTrerith'am Military Hospital.- '• was in the chair, and were presented to the speaker arid singer.
