Townswomen's Guild

WAIWHETU BRANCH

The Waiwhetu Townswomen's Guild held their monthly meeting recently in St. Paul's Church hall. The president extended a hearty welcome to members and visitors, particularly to members of the Alicetown Guild's Drama Circle, who were present. Minutes of the Septembre meeting were read by the secretary, who also gave a report on the Dominion Conference recently held. Reports were received from the treasurer and the leader of tne Drama Circle, also from Mrs. BaKer, wao is in charge of the sales table. . Miss Graham, the speaker for tne afternoon, gave a talk on the awakening of India's women. Having spent many years in India, Miss Graham was very familiar with her subject, and her talk was very much enjoyed by all. Impromptu speeches were made by six guild members, i>irs. Sproull's speech being voted as the most interesting, her subject being "My favourite holiday resort." was presented with a shoulder posy. The winner of the competition for the month was Mrs. Futter. After afternoon tea was served, the Alicetown Guild's Drama Circle presented a humorous play reading to the enjoyment of all, and brought to a close a very pleasant afternoon.
